John Chow Bought a Small Advertising Spot on My Blog
Wooow… This must be the most lucky day in my blogging life. John Chow (Yes, John Chow the famous blogger from johnchow.com) has bought a small advertising spot on my very new blog (i-make-money-on-facebook.com).
Thanks a lot John, I really appreciate your support. Although, that I didn’t receive real money to place his ad in my blog, I am so happy that a big and famous blogger like John has visited my blog and decided to support me by buying my Entrecard ad spot.
For those of you how don’t know what is Entrecard, Entrecard is a 125×125 Internet business card. It is also an ad network for you to get free traffic. You can network with other bloggers by dropping your card on their Entrecard widget, and you use credits that you earned to advertise your card, on any other blog in the Entrecard network. Tyler Cruz, has posted a comprehensive review about Entrecard which will give you more details about the whole system.
The ad will last for 24 hours (its running right now on my blog) and the following is a screenshot for my blog with the John Chow ad in the widget, the other screenshot is for my Entrecard account, with John Chow request for ad at the top.

I don’t know if I am the only one of Entrecard users who has gain the honor or there is somebody else has got it too?!! The funny thing that I might kill to post a small ad about my blog on John Chow blog, and I have been trying to buy his Entrecard ad spot during the entire last week but I couldn’t because its always full and closed for receiving new requests. So I am the one who needs the traffic and I couldn’t buy his ad spot, and he is the one who doesn’t need any more traffic and he has bought my ad spot!!!
Any way, I would like to thank John Chow for his support and another thank to Graham Langdon for the brilliant idea of Entrecard and for the continues improvement which we see it everyday inside the Entrecard network.
PS: I haven’t read more than 2-3 posts from John Chow blog, but I guess form now and on I will read it everyday… So John even if you didn’t get enough visitors through the ad, you have for sure got one new reader and her name is (Lara Saad).

Congrats Lara, it’s great to see Chow advertising here. I was able to get a spot on his spoof site, John Cow which will be running on 12/9. Entrecard is pretty addictive so far.
I was lucky enough to grab one of the first spots on John’s blog using Entrecard. The great thing is I must have been one of the first because the spot only cost me 2 credits. I was hoping for a lot more clicks, but really only got a few from John Chow. I’ve done just as well one some smaller blogs that I have advertised on.

Lara, I don’t know. The Entrecard ad only ran one day and it is down on the page a little. I got 21 visitors from my day on his blog, but really thought I would get more.
I would guess this number would have been a lot higher with an entire month and since the paid ads are above the fold and more visible. I’m sure people get a lot better CTR there or they would not be paying the money for the spots. If you read his earning reports then a lot of the revenue from the blog comes from those ads. Several of the ones running at the moment are Affiliate ads, but there are several paid ads.
I just started using EntreCard today and I am beginning to love it (in fact I discovered your blog through EntreCard and I believe it went the same way vice versa) It has allowed me to network with a lot of other bloggers and has brought in a significant amount of traffic and like I said this has been the first day I have put the widget up. I can’t wait to see how it all works for me in a couple of months because I already have quite a few credits earned just from this one day.
As far as not being paid real money for John Chow spending credits to be placed on your site, it’s good to look at the big picture as well. You can use those credits to purchase spots on other big name blogs that have A LOT of traffic and have a spike in traffic (and possibly profit?) for that day.
That’s what I plan on doing. I plan on just standing by and waiting for my credits to build up and then purchasing spots every now and then on high traffic blogs. Once again, EntreCard is beginning to be one of my favorite widgets because it is so effective. I think it is what BlogRush wanted to be… hopefully they get their stuff straight as I see a lot of potential with their system as well.
Wow, that’s great. I wonder when John Chow gonna notice mine, or any other A-listed Bloggers. Even if that lovely lady who make tons of money on FaceBook, Lara Saad or something take a peek at my blog, I would be in cloud nine,

What would be great is if he dropped by a couple of blogs in the category and dropped his entrecard off, think that could give hope to a few other bloggers.
@Bruce, Yes I think you are right… maybe because its not above the fold. I am sure that advertisers get a very good CTR there, or as you said they would not pay all that money for the spots.

the traffic from Entrecard will keep growing and you will find that it will become one of your main traffic sources. And yes as you said, it is very good for networking with other bloggers.
