“Everyone can use Facebook” this is what they say in their front page, so why not… go and get an account.

25 Steps to Make Money on Facebook

It’s free; you can use it to keep in touch with your friends, but the most important thing that while you enjoy your time there you can make some money there. But please be realistic, you are not going to make millions you are only going to make a few hundred bucks a month, but who cares since that you almost do nothing to make them but enjoying your time on facebook.

I know that the first posts of this series might be a little boring, but it’s important to setup your account there in a good way before we start discussing the other steps.

So to begin, go to facebook.com (in case you don’t know which website is ;-)) and sign up for a new account (unless you already have one) and make sure that you do the following things:

1. Use your real name (First name, Last name): don’t do like some other people those trying to use a nickname like (HotLara ;-)) first you might get banned by facebook for not using your real name (although, that it will take some time before they notice that… but at the end they will do) and secondly because you want the people to find you there and to show all your facebook friends there that you are a real person with a real name.

2. Use your real picture: your picture is the first thing people look at when they visit your profile, if you put a picture for your dog, cat or your car a lot of questions marks will raise about you…

Why she/he doesn’t want to show a real picture?? She might be ugly!! Or he might be a teenager,,, humm maybe he is a man and not a women as he pretend to, maybe she is very old!!

So why you want anyone to hesitate before they accept your friendship request or before they join your group or simply before the reply your message. Don’t be shy, put your real picture with a real face for your facebook account and please don’t put a picture for the entire family, we only want to see you… I can’t guess which one you are in this crowded one!!!

3. Don’t put a lot of information: about your activities, hobbies, education, family history… believe me nobody will read them, when I visit a new profile for somebody who wants to be a friend, I look at her/his name, photo, gender, age, relationship status, hometown, network, friends in common, number of friends, and any more photos… and that’s what all my friends looking at in my profile too,, I have been talking with a lot of my friends there and I know what they looking for in any profile they visit. In the other hand, don’t left them all blank with no information at all, normal people have a gender, age, hometown, relationship status… so why you don’t!!

4. Join a network: this is one of the most important things in the setting up your account process, in facebook you can change your network once every 60 days, and therefore you should be careful when you select your network. Why the network is so important? Most of your activities will be inside your network and most of your friends will come from your network, to get the best exposure for your profile and to achieve a good ROI (Yes it is, Return On Investment ;-)) you should select the right network. The right network for you will be: a network that you already have some friends there (from the real life), a network where people speak your language, a huge population network, and finally a good quality network where people tend to spend money online (at least a few of it). And please don’t make the big mistake that everybody doing it nowadays by not joining any network… it will totally affect the performance of your profile.

5. Invite your friends: from the real life by allowing facebook to search your contacts and sending them invitations by e-mails. Your real friends will be the first stone in your empire there, so be sure to get them all invited.

6. Edit your status: there is a small sentence appears underneath your name which tells everyone about your status now. You can write whatever you want there, so go ahead and say “welcome to everybody” or whatever you want to say, this status is an important feature and we will talk about it more in the next posts. The only one bad thing in this feature that there is an “is” at the beginning and you can’t delete it, it’s annoying everybody there… but people got used to ignore it and write whatever they want to write. Last week I heard that facebook finally considering removing this “is”… I hope that they will do soon.

Edit your status on facebook

I am quite sure that some of you will think that there is no need to tell people how to get an account on facebook, for those of you I say that believe me that it is very important to get everything right from the beginning, because all the above things will affect your performance in making money on facebook. If you don’t use your real name or your real photo or any of what I mentioned above, you won’t get enough friends to start making money. Therefore I said that it might be boring but you have to know what you should do to at the beginning.

  1. This whole facebook concept is quite interesting. Facebook is a bit more ideal to monetize on when compared to Myspace, but now marketing on Facebook is also becoming prevalent. I’d be careful especially with Facebook’s recent release of Facebook Ads. They’re going to start getting rid of the freeloader marketers.

  2. When can we expect all of the rest to come through the pipes? I’m still learning how to monetize the net through what I have access to and find this interesting.

  3. Great first step for facebook, I’ll be sure to check back for the other 24 steps. Didn’t really think facebook could help me develop anything until I heard Ed Dale mention it a while ago. Think I ‘ll be using it more and more soon.

  4. Malignition.com, Thank you for the comment and yes when it comes to facebook you should be very careful, they don’t allow anyone to make money on facebook or even to use facebook for marketing… believe it or not, even when you pay them to use their marketing tools you have to be very careful with them.

Dave, I am so glad that you are interested in reading the rest of this series. As i said in my introduction for this series, some steps needs time to settle down before implementing the next steps.. therefore I don’t want to post all the steps in one day. In the other hand, I haven’t finished writing them all yet. But Anyway, my plan is to finish the series before the end of December.

Nick, I would be so happy to see you visit us again. Thank you for the comment.

    Thanks,
    Lara,

  5. Great advice.

  6. Making money on Social networks might be so difficult because they offer a free service and I know they won’t allow someone to use their free service and earn using it, but you successfully done it. This is a good start, 1 down 24 steps to go. :)
