Facebook’s hopes to enter China

Facebook NewsToday I was thinking about how to improve my blog… ok I know that I have tons of information that I have to post it and all this information is about how to make money on facebook, and yes I know that all my readers are waiting for this information… first of all it’s not easy to put all this information in one or two posts therefore I will try to break it down into several posts (I will call it steps), each post will describe one step. I am planning to start posting these steps during this weekend.

But in addition to all of that, I want my blog to be more comprehensive and not limited to text posts about how to make money on facebook. Therefore I decided to add several new categories, which is:

Facebook news: In this section you will find all the news about facebook.

Facebook Videos: I will establish a new channel on YouTube to collect all the posted videos about facebook and you will find it here on my blog too.

Facebook photos: Here you will find my collection of facebook photos; it won’t be photos of facebook users… No, it will be general photos about the company or the site itself (i.e. facebook logo, facebook offices, facebook employees, etc…).
I hope that the above new categories will add something extra to my blog, beside the main goal of this blog.

So today I will start by adding the new category (Facebook News), and the first post in this category will be what I have read today on timesonline.co.uk about facebook’s hopes to enter China.

Facebook have offered $85 million to buy Zhanzuo.com, its largest Chinese counterpart, which has an estimated seven million active users and a popular base among students. A spokeswoman told The Times that:

“Jack Zhang, Zhanzuo’s chief executive, and Mark Zuckerberg, the Facebook founder, were acquainted but this did not mean that they intended to reach a deal – for the moment”

She added, however, that:

“There could be more information by the end of the month”

Facebook already has more than 100,000 users of its English-language network in China and has already registered the domain facebook.cn in China.

$85 million… only!! What a cheap price to enter a market that will give you at least 100 million a month of net profit. Facebook are making about 20 million a month from showing Ads to 54 million users around the world. 54 million users are nothing when it comes to China; with the huge population there facebook can easily reach the 100 million users in a few months. So imagine how much they will make from showing Ads to a few hundreds of millions in China. If I were the owner of Zhanzuo.com I would ask for a big share in facebook China on the top of $100 million. What would you do ;-)??

  1. Lara - 85 million sounds liek a steal right now. I’m still kicking myself for not buying a share of Baidu stock, that Chinese version of Google.

So how do you make money with Facebook?

  2. Monetizer, Thanks for posting a comment on my blog. Keep an eye on my blog and you will know how to make money on facebook soon… and by the way it’s not magic or something nobody can do it, No.. it’s only a tactic which everyone can follow it and make money on facebook.

    Thanks,
    Lara,

  3. Hey lara. 2 things.
1)I’ve been trying to get ahold of you. Have a quick question or two I’d like to put out in private. I tried your sphinn-given yahoo/msn, are those right?

2)China is a whole different beast. They already have their own firmly ingrained social networking, instant messengers, and really internet culture. They’ve done good in other countries, yes, but China is more seperated from the rest of the world than the countries Facebook is succeeding in. Facebook would need a serious marketing program in order to swing it in China. However, you’re 100% right. It would be worth it.

  4. SlightlyShadySEO, Thank you for the comment.

    1) Yes my e-mails in Sphinn are correct go ahead and send me whatever questions you have. I prefer the Yahoo e-mail.

    2) I agree with you that China is different than the rest of the world, and yes they might need to spend a lot on marketing and advertising there,,, but as you said “It would be worth it”.

    Thanks,
    Lara,
